The window sizes of the dialog box in FreeHand MX can be changed relatively easily permanently to a self-selected size.

Guide for Mac OS X: change

To the window size of Öffnen-/Speichern-Dialogfenster permanently, we will open the following file, such as the Property List editor from Apple (see screenshot below):

/ Users/USERNAME/Library/Preferences/com.macromedia.freehand.11.plist

The values for the NavPanels eg { 1250, 800} set, save the file or replace it in the same place, ready.
